Well we finally had the first International GarfBall Challenge. The general itinerary was to get the ferry from Pompey overnight on Friday Night to Le Havre, then drive down to Caen, visiting Pegasus Bridge, The Normandy Beaches, and Carentan, then an overnight stop in Cherbourg and back up to Le Havre on Sunday Avo to get the ferry home. It wasn't anything like I planned it..400 Miles to Bordeaux each way...wasn't happening, but it made for a fun and random weekend.
We get ready for the off at Chateaux Garf and Sam, someone didn't get the timings memo.

It's ok lads we'll just paste Nai's head in later :D
Nai finally getting his GarfBall T Shirt on whilst we waited for the ferry to board. We had nothing to do so filmed a little video ;)
You're on a boat going over the channel, everyone else is asleep, what do you do? I know, lets explore.
Which ways the bridge? That a way.
I should mention, to get to the funnel we had to climb a couple of ladders, in about gale force 4 winds with the boat rocking more than an ACDC concert.
Oh yeah, Ryan and Gizzle are asleep while we are galavanting round the ship. Wusses.
Nai and P Dizzle need some caffeine after a serious round of "Where's Garf's Glasses?" and about 30 mins sleep,.
Off to Normandy we go, invading France like so many poeple before us :D
Oh ze lovelee weavver is much better zan in Ingerland!
We had this P.o.S dirty blue sports car following us round all weekend, or technically we followed it all weekend.
Rather funky bridge on the way out of Le Havre, quite high too!
Arty shot of the bridges suspension wires.
Apparently this looks like a woman's legs akimbo, this is what happens when fidge has the camera.
We really liked this bridge, you probably can't tell. Don't worry you'll see it again on our way back :D
The only reason Ryan came was to drive a decent car for the weekend.
P Dizzle's map reading is a bit off as he's still a touch drunk from Breakfast - Le Mc Dos with Kronenbourg mmmm.
Just some Museum about a bridge we found in France.
The first troops on the ground on D-Day were the Oxs and Bucks light infantry, they were in the back of some balsa wood gliders (the pilots of which were technically paras, hence why they get the Pegasus battle honour).
Pegasus bridge was the bridge over the Caen Canal it was vital to secure it to stop german reinforcements getting to the Normandy Beaches, and flanking
Pegasus Bridge. The Ox and Bucks landed at 0016, they completely surprised the Germans and took the bridge in 10 mins, but lost 2 men, the first troops to die on D Day.

P Dizzle reflects on the memorial
Couple of cool pictures either side, one is the gliders they used, the other is the bridge under attack.
The Horsa gliders they used, just a wooden frame really. It was lucky they didn't disintegrate on impact :D
Good photo opportunity i reckon.
Just in case you missed it the first time.
The actual bridge, this is now in the museum whilst a replacement has been put over the canal. I think you can even see some bullet marks on it.
